Valentine's Day Ball (Winter Ball), Red Bluff, February 6, 2010 - Enjoy the more civilized side of Civil War Reenacting where every loyal Union man, Confederate and Civilian will enjoy a night of dinner and dancing. with a family dance featuring lively music, festive refreshments and company of dear friends. Our 'formal' Winter Ball starts off our season at the VFW Hall, located at the corner of Oak Street and Jackson Street in Red Bluff.  The event will star-t at 6 p.m. and continue until 10 p.m.  For further info, contact Janice Neikirk.

 

Ft. Crook Work-Day, Fall River Mills, February 27.  A gathering for the 72nd to work on the Fort Crook cabin.  Contact Steve Kerns or Randy Hewitt for more information

 

RACW Tactical, Shasta College, March TBA - The start of the year Club-wide tactical will be held at Shasta College, Redding to practice safety, drill and generally prepare for the new season.  For further info, contact Pappy or Donna Walton

 

Red Bluff Grand Review/Round-Up Parade, Red Bluff, April 20 - In celebration of the Red Bluff Heritage Days and the Red Bluff Rodeo, the RACW participates in the parade that kicks off the Red Bluff Round-Up.  This gives the units of the RACW a chance to 'strut their stuff' just one week before the upcoming Battle of Dog Island. Civil War Days Red Bluff, Dog Island Park, Red Bluff, April 23 - 25 - This event for the RACW is in its sixth year and is set in a scenic park on the banks of the Sacramento River.  Friday is a school day event, with area students touring the camps for a look at life in 1863.   Saturday and Sunday feature battles and living history.  A fantastic location in downtown Red Bluff but hidden from all modern intrusions.  Dog Island Park is located on Main Street, just south of the I-5 Adobe Road exit. Colusa, September 17-19 - This is a new event for the RACW!  Colusa is a quiet town on the Sacramento River with many Victorian era homes.  This event will include a school day on the Friday prior to the weekend.  For more information, contact Craig Poundstone.

 

Happy Valley, May 21-23 - This is the third year for this event.  This event will feature a school day on Friday, living history, battles on Saturday and Sunday, mountain man demos, and much more.  For further info, contact Pappy or- Donna Walton

Gibson's Ranch.  May 14-16.  DIRECTIONS TO THE EVENT WILL BE PROVIDED ASAP.

 

Ft. Crook Day, Fall River Mills, June 5.  A one-day event in Fall River Mills to celebrate the historic Fort Crook. Contact Steve Kerns for more information

 

Duncans Mills, July 17-18 - This is one of the largest events in Northern California, with all three major clubs, the RACW, NCWA and ACWA participating. Hosted by the California Historical Artillery Association (CHAS), this event is located near the Russian River north of Santa Rosa, this site provides a large, unspoiled battlefield.  Directions: Take Highway 1 to Highway 116 ( River Rd. ) and go east until you reach Duncans Mills , approx. 4 miles. Turn right onto Moscow Rd., cross the bridge and make a hard right onto Freezout Rd. follow signs.  For further info, contact  Wes Faubel

 

Shingletown, August  7 - A single-day event, sponsored by the 42nd Virginia.  A booth/table may be set up to recruit for our unit.  For more info, contact Mitch Kranig

The Great Silver Shipment Train Battle, Virginia City, NV, Labor Day weekend - Dubbed "The Battle That Never Was", this event is put on by our reenacting partners, the Comstock Civil War Reenactors (CCWR), in Virginia City, NV.  The battles at this event will feature the former McCloud railroad train.  Virginia City is a tourist-oriented town, with lots of shops catering to the Old West and Civil War era-minded person.  For further info, contact Miz Izabella

Kearney Park, Fresno, October 1-3.  A large event put on by the NCWA and the Fresno Historical Society at Kearney Park.  Kearney Park is located six miles West of Fresno on Kearney Blvd.  If traveling South on State Route 99, take the Fresno St. off-ramp and turn right to Kearney Blvd.  It is lined with palm trees all the way out to the park.  (http://www.valleyhistory.org/civilwar.html) or visit the NCWA website http://www.ncwa.org/
