Company C is giong to the 150th Gettysburg Anniversary reenactment.

The dates are July 4-7, 2013

This is a four day national event with tens of thousands of reenactors participating

we are encouraging everyone to attend and fall in with the 72nd NYSV.

Preliminary trip timeline:

* Register by December 31st, 2012. Registration fee may increase after this.

* Gear going in trailer to be collected and deposited in Red Bluff starting end of April (Dog Island) through to mid-June.

* Trailer to leave for Gettysburg June 28th, 2013.

* Trailer to arrive in Gettysburg July 1st or 2nd, 2013.

* Move onto field no later than July 3rd, 2013.

* Trailer to arrive back in Red Bluff July 15th or so.

Details about the trip as we know them:

* The company is sponsoring a trailer to be driven back to the event. Rifles, powder, tentage and limited amount of personal gear from each member can be sent back. There will be a small fee ($50 or so) charged to help with this expense. Members should carry uniforms and bedding with them to save trailer space. Members should plan on no fewer than two to a tent to reduce the number of tents going back.

* Individuals are expected to get themselves to the event site. The trailer will meet you there. It is encouraged that members pool resources around flying back together, rental cars and hotel rooms when not sleeping in the field.

* Members should plan on moving onto the field Wednesday, July 3. Participants may remain in the field until Monday, July 8.

* There will be declared an “official” 72nd NYSV hotel for persons arriving in the area early, but staying there is purely optional. This hotel will probably be the Blue Sky Motel which is very close to the reenactment site.

* There will be group activities planned for the time before and after the reenactment. Expect at least another week or so of site seeing if you are able to attend.

* Members from other units may fall in with the 72nd, even people who have never reenacted before may come and participate with us. Do not rely on the 72nd’s loaner gear. If you are bringing a guest, please organize their gear ahead of time. (ie: borrow gear from reenactors not attending 150th G-Burg.)

* Do not be surprised if other reenactors are assigned to our company from event organizers. Many people register to participate in this event who do not have an affiliated unit. Some of these random reenactors may be assigned to the 72nd NY.

* Familiarize yourself with the 150th Gettysburg Reenactment website. You must register yourself. When registering, indicate your unit as the 72nd New York Volunteer Infantry with Rick Barram as the unit contact person. For the purposes of this event, we do not have an “organization affiliation” so just put “provisional brigade.”

* Details around food in the field and camping will become available as we get closer to the event.
